1 at Malton (21 hours. Fixed term contract for 12 months covering maternity leave)

Our client is one of the leading Associations in the region, providing around 16,000 affordable homes, together with care and support services to their tenants and to other customers, and employing more than 700 staff. They have an active and innovative development programme and they have now embarked on an exciting change programme to modernise their facilities and service delivery model across the organisation.


They now have two exciting opportunities for Benefits and Money Advisers to join them to maximise the income of customers and promote financial capability and independence through the delivery of an effective benefit and budgeting advice service.


Within this role you will represent customers in dealing with benefits issues where necessary as well as prepare cases and represent customers at tribunals. You will be responsible for providing debt advice based on an exploration of the customer's income and expenditure, and identification of priority debts. You will promote financial inclusion by working with customers on basic budgeting and money management skills and offering relevant money advice and information. Continuously reviewing practice and policies in debt avoidance, income management and benefit advice you will improve service provision and ensure compliance with legislation. You must also build and maintain strong links with housing benefit departments and other statutory and non statutory organisations.


The successful candidates will have a good standard of general education with previous experience of providing advocacy services, debt management and basic budgeting advice. Experience of representing clients in appeals, acting as an advocate is essential along with the ability to promote value for money and efficiency. They are looking for patient, hard working individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills.


Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence and the willingness to work outside of normal office hours is required.
